Hey everyone!
I’m so excited to tell y’all about my recent trip to Chicago—it was truly a memorable experience from start to finish! We hit the road full of energy and good vibes, ready for a fun-filled getaway. One of the things I was most looking forward to was the food (of course!). I had my cravings lined up in advance: Pepe’s tacos, some good ol’ flavorful jerk chicken, and those juicy, smoky I-57 ribs. Chicago never disappoints when it comes to flavor!
We checked into the Hilton hotel shortly after arriving. Although the room was on the smaller side, it was cozy and served its purpose just fine. I had picked out a cute white two-piece outfit from Fashion Nova for the day—it fit the vibe perfectly. To complete the look, I carried a stylish Adeola bag and wore some comfy yet chic shoes I got off Amazon. Simple, but I felt good!
While my husband dove straight into work mode, I started getting ready for our day’s activities. That’s when I hit a little snag—the lighting in the hotel room was just terrible for doing makeup. Like, I could barely see my own face in the mirror! Mental note for the future: I definitely need to invest in a good portable LED mirror to travel with. A beauty essential for sure.
I also took a little self-care time to maintain my sisterlocks. I made sure to moisturize them with some conditioner to keep them healthy and hydrated, especially with all the traveling. I’ve learned that consistent care really helps prevent breakage and keeps them looking fresh.
During our trip, we had two main events to attend. First up was a birthday celebration for a sweet little baby—so much joy and cuteness all around. I had a great time being part of the special moment. Meanwhile, my husband joined our friends to help out with the BBQ setup. Teamwork on both ends!
Labor Day was another highlight of the trip. We had an amazing time enjoying the holiday together. I wore another white Fashion Nova outfit that day—super cute, but I’ll admit it was a bit too roomy for my frame. Still, I made it work! We made a quick stop at Jewel Osco to grab some jerk sauce from Uncle Joe’s, and we lucked out—we snagged the very last few bottles on the shelf. A win!
The food throughout this trip? Incredible. We indulged in banana pudding, fall-off-the-bone ribs, flavorful chicken, creamy mac and cheese, and sweet boiled corn. Every bite reminded me why I love Chicago cuisine so much. It’s soulful, satisfying, and just hits the spot every time.
Overall, the trip was filled with laughter, good food, quality time, and beautiful memories shared with family and friends. It’s moments like these that I truly cherish.
Thanks for reading and until next time—take care, stay safe, and wishing everyone peace and good health!
