Hey y’all! So listen — you know how sometimes you see something blowing up all over TikTok and you’re like, “Okay, is this really worth the hype, or are we just being influenced again?” Well baby, that’s exactly how I felt when I kept seeing this $8.99 Seafood Boil pack from Aldi popping up in my feed. And shoutout to Queen L Eats for putting me on game, because whew — I had to find out for myself if this thing was a hit or a hard pass.

So the very next morning, I headed to Aldi like a woman on a mission. I’m not even gonna lie — I was nervous, y’all. With how fast TikTok trends move, I just knew the shelves might be wiped clean. I walked in there ready for battle — okay, not really, but I was prepared to hustle for that boil.
Guess what? I found it on my first try! Just $8.99 — and no tax here in Ohio, since we don’t tax groceries. Y’all, that price already had me side-eyeing it like... “Is this too good to be true?”
I didn’t get around to cooking it until the next day, and I made a conscious decision not to go crazy with seasonings because I wanted to give this thing a fair shot — no cheating with Cajun packets or spice blends. Just a little butter and minced garlic to bring out the natural flavor.
Inside the bag you get:
Shrimp (with shell on)
Sausage
Baby potatoes
Corn on the cob
Mussels
No squid, no octopus, no mystery meat. Thank goodness! I like to keep it classic, and this pack did just that.
Okay, the shrimp were small but mighty. What shocked me the most was how clean and fresh they were — especially for a frozen boil at this price point. A lot of cheaper options don’t clean their shrimp well, but these were buttery, tender, and had a surprisingly good texture. You do have to peel them yourself, but that didn’t bother me one bit.
I’d give it a solid 6/10. It’s not super flavorful, but not bad either. Think of it as a blank canvas. If you like your sausage spicy or crispy, just toss it in a pan and give it a little sear. That crunch would really take it up a notch!
Y’all... these potatoes deserve a standing ovation. They were perfectly soft, buttery, and packed with flavor. This is the part that impressed me the most. I was ready for some rubbery or undercooked mess — but nope! These potatoes came through.
The corn wasn’t sweet corn, but it still had a nice bite. It wasn’t mushy or bland — just solid, hearty corn that held its own in the mix.
There were about 8 mussels in the bag, and I honestly wished there were more. Some were closed (do NOT eat those, y’all, that’s seafood 101). I always take out the black stuff inside too — I don’t know what it is, and I’m not trying to find out.
Let me be real with you — I came into this with low expectations. But Aldi proved me wrong in the best way. There was no weird seafood smell, no rubbery texture, no shady ingredients — just a flavorful, well-balanced boil that tasted like something you’d pay $20+ for at a restaurant.
Rating: 9/10.
The only thing keeping it from being a 10 is the portion size (more on that in a second). But overall? A true hidden gem.
✅ Portion size – Don’t be fooled by the “serves 2” label. This is a 1-person meal unless you're just nibbling. Grab a few packs if you're sharing.
🔥 Not spicy at all – Totally kid-friendly and customizable. Add your own kick if you like it hot!
⏱️ Fast cook time – Ready in 8–10 minutes. Perfect for a lazy dinner or quick seafood craving.
💰 Incredible value – Similar bags from other brands go for $15.99 to $19.99, and they don’t taste this good.
If you’ve been skeptical about trying frozen seafood boil or think $8.99 is just too cheap to be tasty — I feel you. But this pack from Aldi is the real deal. Whether you’re a seafood lover on a budget, or just craving something different for dinner, this is 100% worth grabbing.
I’ll definitely be buying it again — and next time, I might get creative and add some Cajun seasoning, hot sauce, lemon, or even a little Old Bay. Aldi has officially earned a spot in my rotation, and I can’t stop talking about it.
Run, don’t walk — this will be flying off shelves if it hasn’t already.
Big thanks to Queen L Eats for the tip! You really put us on something special. 🧡
