A New Chapter in My Life
I can still remember the nervous excitement when the camera started rolling that day. “Are we filming yet?” – “Yes, we’re rolling!” And just like that, we began capturing one of the most important days of my life.
The Journey to Our New Home
Sitting in the car, I looked out at the familiar roads that once took me to work at 911, and through the days when I lived in Jersey. It felt so strange – the same road I used to hate with all my heart now filled me with joy. Life has changed so much, and though things were once so stressful, this truly feels like a miracle.
“Back in Jersey,” I whispered to myself, overwhelmed with emotion. Maybe my partner never hated this road the way I did, but for me, every time I traveled it before, it was nothing but dread. Now it was different. As we passed the Oculus – the building right next to the Twin Towers – I couldn’t help but laugh at how we looked like real tourists with our cameras out.
“We look like such tourists,” I told my partner, feeling a little embarrassed. But then I realized – we were documenting our own history. We had actually made our dream come true.

Looking Back on the Journey
Once we safely arrived at the new building, I decided to share with you all what the journey had been like. We’d already moved a few things into the new apartment, then went back to the old one to finish packing up during our last few days there.
About a month ago, I had taken a trip to Tennessee. That city was incredible, and I loved how my friend there went out of her way to show me around. Both of us are homebodies, but we made the effort to get out more. She really went above and beyond to give me the full experience.
Downtown Nashville made me feel at home. Maybe when you go to a new city, you recognize the downtown areas – it reminded me a lot of New York or Philadelphia. All that energy and busyness was packed right into those streets. There were long lines outside Jack’s Bar-B-Que, people in matching outfits with cowboy boots and hats, and karaoke bars on nearly every corner.
Unforgettable Moments
I remember trying the caviar that had been gifted to me – it was amazing! After that, I had to get ready for my sister Jessica’s fashion show. Instead of booking an expensive ride, I took the subway, hiding my outfit under my coat and carrying my heels in a bag.
Jessica’s fashion show was incredible. The theme was “heaven and hell,” and it created this mix of darkness and light. When Jessica hit the runway, it felt like she was right between those two worlds. I’ve always admired the way my sister can handle the most challenging dresses designers throw her way. This time was no different – the dress was so tight she could only take tiny steps, but she still looked stunning.
Saying Goodbye to Harlem
When the movers started their work, I stood and took one last look at the Harlem view. “New York, New York,” I whispered. Harlem, you owe us nothing – it’s just time for us to move on. We love you and we’ll miss you.
The move wasn’t as stressful as we expected. Even though we hired movers, we still carried a few things ourselves. “Hire us instead, we’ll move it for you,” I joked.
A Fresh Start
And now here we are in the present, standing in the gym of our new building. I feel so blessed to live here. I’m beginning new routines, building a new relationship with myself, and making fresh commitments to life.
Honestly, I was never really a gym girl. My whole family is naturally slim, but as I’ve gotten older, I know I need to exercise. It’s such a gift to have a modern gym just a few floors away, and even better, I’ve got my own trainer – Jessica, my sister, who’s basically like a bionic machine.
We’ve set up a schedule: alternating gym and pilates days, with weekends for rest. I’m so excited I don’t even want to take breaks, but Jessica reminds me that the body needs time to recover and rest.
A Message for You
Finally, I want to say this: when you go to the gym, do it when you’re truly ready. Don’t let anyone pressure you. When your time comes, you’ll know.
Life really is magical. From those stressful days working at 911, to moving houses, to traveling, and now beginning this new chapter with the person I love in such a wonderful place – every step has brought me closer to the best version of myself.
Thank you for walking with me on this journey. See you in the next story!
