In that video, Darius courageously opened up about his sexual orientation, and we couldn’t be prouder of his honesty, strength, and the grace with which he chose to share his journey.
First and foremost, we want everyone to know: this is not news to us. As his parents, we've known for quite some time, and from the very beginning, our hearts have been open. We've stood beside Darius with love, respect, and unwavering support as he has explored and embraced his identity. For us, love means allowing your children to discover who they are, without pressure or shame, and empowering them to live in their truth—at their own pace, and in their own way.

We feel it’s important to say this loud and clear: as parents, our greatest calling is to love our children unconditionally. Sadly, we know that not every child receives that kind of love. Far too many young people, especially those growing up in households with rigid beliefs or strict religious interpretations, face rejection, hostility, or silence when they choose to come out. We believe this kind of reaction is not only harmful, but deeply misguided.
We’ve read the statistics—how countless LGBTQ+ youth are turned away by their families, forced into homelessness, or left vulnerable to abuse and exploitation. It’s devastating. And it stands in direct opposition to everything we believe in: compassion, grace, and the sacred bond between parent and child.
To every parent who may be struggling with acceptance, we offer this plea: put yourself in your child’s shoes. Imagine what it feels like to carry a secret, to live in fear of rejection from the very people who should love you most. And then ask yourself: wouldn’t you want to be met with kindness, understanding, and unconditional love?
Darius’s journey of self-discovery has not been easy. It has involved years of reflection, prayer, self-doubt, courage, and ultimately, self-acceptance. Through it all, we’ve prayed with him and for him, believing with all our hearts that God’s plan for his life is full of purpose and promise.
