My Weight Gain Story – Little Lessons From Life
Hey y’all! It’s your girl, BLovesLife!
Today, while I’m enjoying some crab legs, potatoes, and all that good stuff, I wanna share a real story about my journey with weight control. This ain’t no perfect story or some kind of advice from a nutritionist — it’s just my honest experience as a woman trying to balance her love for food and her desire to stay in shape.

When the Scale Started Climbing
Y’all know what? It all started from something that seemed harmless. Every morning, before prayer, I used to have my husband make me a nice, hot cup of cocoa. That was my favorite moment of the day — sitting down, sipping that warm chocolate, and getting ready for a new day full of energy.
But then something unexpected happened.
One day, I stepped on the scale and almost fell out when I saw 146 — sometimes even 147 pounds! I just stood there, staring at that number like, “Hold on, what’s going on? Why is my weight climbing like crazy?”

Finding the Culprit
That’s when I started thinking about what I was eating every day. And then it hit me — it was that morning hot chocolate! Who would’ve thought such a small thing could make such a big difference?
For real, y’all — sometimes it’s the little things that sneak up on us. It’s not always the big mukbang meals, or those occasional feasts, but the everyday habits we don’t even notice.

Making the Change
So, after realizing what was going on, I made a decision: no more morning hot chocolate. I stopped asking my husband to make it, even though I loved it so much.
And guess what? It worked!
My weight dropped back down to 141 pounds — a number I felt comfortable with. I did it! I figured out the problem and fixed it.

A New Challenge – The Potato Temptation
But y’all, the story doesn’t end there. Now I’m facing a new challenge — potatoes!
Let me be real, I went out and bought a big ol’ bag of red potatoes. I knew I shouldn’t have, but they were just too good! Soft, buttery, seasoned potatoes… lawd have mercy, I couldn’t resist!
Today I threw three of them in the pot and cut them in half. Looking back, I should’ve only cooked two. Those four potato halves were just sitting there looking at me, calling my name. Maybe I’ll eat two more… maybe not.

What I’ve Learned
Through this journey, I’ve learned a few things:
First — your weight can go up real quick if you’re not paying attention. One day you’re 141, then all of a sudden you’re staring at 148 like, “Wait, when did this happen?” It doesn’t take long — that scale can creep up on you before you even know it.
Second — sometimes it’s the smallest things that do the most damage. Not the big meals or the cheat days, but those everyday little habits we don’t notice.
Third — every time you win one battle, another challenge shows up. I beat the “hot chocolate battle,” and now I’m in the middle of the “potato war.”

Still a Food Lover
But let me tell y’all something — even though I’m trying to manage my weight, I still love my food. I love potato skins — that’s where all the nutrients are! I love those buttery, seasoned potatoes that taste like heaven.
This meal I’m having right now? It’s my first of the day — I cooked it at 4 a.m.! And yeah, I know I’m eating a little too much potato, but it’s just too good to pass up. That’s the balance I’m learning — enjoying life while taking care of myself.

Final Thoughts
The journey to control your weight is never easy. It’s full of challenges, temptations, and tough decisions. But what matters most is recognizing the problem and doing something about it.
Right now, I’m holding steady at 141 pounds. I know I gotta “let go of the potatoes” if I wanna keep it that way. But maybe today, I’ll let myself enjoy a few more bites — because life isn’t just about the number on the scale. It’s about those little happy moments we have with the food we love.
And you know what? That’s the best part — we can love food and love ourselves too. All we gotta do is find that balance and listen to our bodies.
