The Shocking Truth: Sweetest Day Isn’t for Women?

Y’all, let me talk to you about something that’s been on my mind – Sweetest Day and how we women approach love and relationships.

Monica and Brandy Are Coming!
First things first – y’all, Monica and Brandy are coming to my town in October, baby! You think I ain’t going? YES, I AM! They’ve extended their tour because the demand has been crazy. Now they’ve got Kelly Rowland, Brandy, Monica, Moody Long, Coco Jones – baby, this thing is getting big. And I heard it’s a really good show too.
I think it’s happening right around Sweetest Day weekend. Sweetest Day falls on the 18th this year, but the concert is on a Thursday, so it’s right before Sweetest Day.

Plans for Sweetest Day
So here’s what I’m thinking: I’ll take my girlfriend with me to the concert, and then me and my husband will celebrate that weekend. Because you know, Sweetest Day is supposed to be for men.
If y’all didn’t know, it’s meant to be a man’s holiday – a love day for men, or however you want to put it. I don’t know… Is Valentine’s Day for everybody, both men and women, or is it just for women? Is Valentine’s supposed to be for the ladies, and then Sweetest Day for the men? Y’all tell me, because I really don’t know.
There’s been some debate about whether Sweetest Day is really a man’s holiday. I only learned about that maybe ten years ago, and for the longest time, I thought it was for us too.

We Women Can Be So “Selfish”
We are selfish – us women are so selfish! We’re like: “Every day is my day! Valentine’s Day? That’s MY day. My birthday? That’s not just a day, that’s my whole birthday MONTH. Sweetest Day? Yep, that’s my day too – my whole weekend, y’all.”
We are something else. If you sit back and think about it, we really are a trip and a half, honey. Man, oh man.

But Men Still Gotta Love Us
But listen, our men still gotta love us. Because one thing’s for sure – we’re going to take care of them. We’ll treat them right. You treat us right, and we’ll treat you even better.
You know what I’m saying? You do me good, I’m going to do you even gooder. All right? That’s just how I am. That’s just how I roll.

Philosophy in Friendships Too
And that goes for my friendships too, baby. You treat me good, I’ll treat you good. You treat me right, I’ll treat you even righter. You do me… I’ll do you… okay!
That’s just the way I operate. It’s all about reciprocity, honey. It’s about matching energy and effort.

The Truth About Women
Let’s keep it real. We women can be demanding. We want Valentine’s Day, we want our birthdays stretched out to a whole month, we want Sweetest Day too even though it’s technically supposed to be for men. We want it all!
But here’s the thing – we give it all back too. When we love, we love HARD. When we take care of our man, we take care of him GOOD. When we’re loyal, we’re loyal to the very end.

Balance in Relationships
The key is balance, y’all. Yes, we might be a little selfish with the holidays and special days. But we’re also the ones planning the surprise parties, remembering everybody’s favorite foods, making sure the house feels like home, supporting our man’s dreams, and holding the whole family together.
So maybe we do deserve those extra celebrations. Maybe we’ve earned the right to claim every holiday as ours because we’re the ones making sure everyone else feels celebrated all year long.

Real Love
At the end of the day, real love isn’t about who gets which holiday. It’s about showing up for each other every single day. It’s about being there through the seafood boils and the struggles, through the good investments and the bad ones, through the cruise vacations and the busy work weeks.
It’s about supporting each other’s dreams – whether that’s going to see Monica and Brandy, building a real estate empire, or just wanting to take a long nap after a tough day.

Final Word
So whether it’s Valentine’s Day, Sweetest Day, or just a regular Tuesday – show your person that you love them. And ladies, maybe let the men have Sweetest Day. We already got everything else anyway!
But remember – you do me good, I’m going to do you even better. That’s the recipe for lasting love right there.
