My Menopause Journey: A Real, Honest Talk From BLovesLife

Hey my loves! Today, while I’m sitting here enjoying this amazing seafood, I wanted to pause for a moment and talk about something a lot of women don’t feel comfortable discussing — menopause and all the changes that come with it.

You know, this isn’t an easy topic to open up about on camera. But I’ve always believed in being real and honest with y’all. And if my experience can help even one woman who’s going through the same thing, then sharing this is worth it.

The Truth About Menopause

Y’all, your girl is officially in menopause. Yes, I said it! I’m going through menopause, and I’m not ashamed of it at all. This is a natural part of a woman’s life, and we need to talk about it more.

But in my case, it didn’t happen naturally with age. Nope — my story is a little more complicated.

The Surgery That Changed Everything

I had a surgery — listen closely because this name is a tongue twister — it’s called endometrial ablation. This is a medical procedure that a lot of women may not have even heard of.

This surgery completely changed my body. It stopped my menstrual cycle. Y’all hear me? My last period was in November last year. That was it. From that moment on, everything started changing.

The Unexpected Changes

Now let me get into something a lot of people have been asking me:
“BLove, why have you gained weight?”

Many people assume my weight gain came from the surgery — that the procedure slowed down my metabolism.

And guess what? They might be right! I noticed the changes immediately. Before, I could eat practically anything — meat, lots of meat, all kinds of protein — and never gain weight. I’ve never been a sweets person, I always leaned toward a low-carb lifestyle, and my body loved it.

But now? Everything is different! My metabolism is not the same. Not like it used to be, y’all!

Changing My Diet

These days, I’m eating things I never thought I would touch before:

  • Grains

  • Fruit

  • Rice

  • Oatmeal

And you know what? I am NOT mad about it! I’ve embraced the change. I know my body will adjust to this new way of eating, and everything will smooth out eventually.

Accepting the Change & Moving Forward

Y’all, I’m literally looking down at my stomach while recording this. My belly is sticking out. I can see the change. I know I’ve gained weight. But I also notice my actual stomach — the inside — is smaller now compared to before.

It doesn’t make sense, right? Belly looks bigger but the inside feels smaller? That’s menopause for you! Your body switches up in ways you could never predict.

But you know what I tell myself?
“Give me a few more months.”
Just a few months, and I believe my body will find its balance again.

The Challenges I'm Facing

I won’t lie to y’all — being in menopause is CRAZY! It’s wild.
The hot flashes, the mood swings, the weight changes, dry skin, dry hair… the list goes on forever.

And for me, it didn’t happen slowly or naturally. The surgery threw me straight into it. One day I had a normal period, and after the surgery — boom — everything stopped overnight.

Advice for My Ladies

If any of you are considering endometrial ablation, PLEASE talk to your doctor about ALL the side effects. Don’t just listen to the benefits like “lighter periods” or “no more heavy bleeding.” Ask about:

  • How it affects your metabolism

  • Whether it can cause weight gain

  • What hormonal changes you might face

  • How to prepare for post-surgery life

Finding Positivity Through the Chaos

But you know what? Despite all these changes, I’m still here. Still eating this delicious seafood. Still living my life. Still loving myself.

Yes, I’m adjusting my diet. Yes, I’m learning to live in this new body. But I am NOT giving up. I’m not hiding. I’m not ashamed.

I’m still here on camera, eating my seafood, sharing my real story with y’all. Because this is me — BLovesLife — a woman going through menopause, a woman who had surgery, a woman adjusting to her new body, but still living her best life!
