Three-ingredient pot roast is a lifesaver for busy weekdays! This dish comes together effortlessly in the slow cooker, which means you can set it, forget it, and come home to a delicious, warm meal. The 'three packets' in this recipe - ranch, Italian dressing, and brown gravy - bring an incredible depth of flavor, making this a family favorite in our house. Perfect for those chilly Midwest evenings when you need something hearty and satisfying!
This pot roast goes wonderfully with classic side dishes like creamy mashed potatoes or buttery egg noodles. You could also add some steamed green beans or roasted carrots to round out the meal. Don’t forget to scoop up some of that delicious slow-cooked gravy to drizzle over everything!
Slow Cooker 3 Packet Pot Roast
Servings: 6-8

Ingredients
3-4 pound chuck roast
1 packet ranch seasoning mix
1 packet Italian dressing mix
1 packet brown gravy mix
1 cup water
Optional: chopped vegetables (carrots, potatoes, onions)

Directions
1. Place the chuck roast in the slow cooker.
2. Sprinkle the ranch, Italian dressing, and brown gravy packets directly onto the roast.
3. Pour the cup of water around the sides of the roast (not on top to avoid rinsing off the seasonings).
4. If you're adding vegetables, place them around the roast now.
5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the roast is tender and shreds easily with a fork.
6. Once done, shred the roast with two forks and mix it back into the juices before serving.

Variations & Tips

For a healthier twist, try using a leaner cut of beef like a bottom round roast. You can also experiment with different seasoning packet flavors to refresh the recipe each time. If you're keen on extra sauce, mix in some beef broth with the water. Vegetables like celery and mushrooms can add more depth to the flavors. And for those who love a bit of spice, adding a touch of red pepper flakes or a few pepperoncini peppers can give the roast a nice kick!
