My relationship with my husband is something I cherish deeply — not just because of where we are now, but because of how beautifully and unexpectedly it all began.
At the time, I was living in Chicago, and he was in Rockford. Life had us both working somewhere in between, balancing the rhythms of two cities without knowing that fate was gently guiding our paths toward one another. One day during a routine lunch break, I found myself talking to people about finding a place to stay in Rockford. I wasn’t expecting anything big — just maybe a suggestion, a tip, or a lead on an apartment.
But what happened next completely caught me off guard.
A man I barely knew — a complete stranger to me back then — calmly tore a piece of paper from a notepad, scribbled down an address, slid it across the table, and said, “This is a place you could stay.” That man would later become my husband.

To this day, my kids laugh and shake their heads when they hear this story. They can't believe their dad, who’s typically reserved and cautious, once invited a stranger — me — into his home like that. It was so out of character for him, and yet, something about that moment felt divinely orchestrated.
And I truly believe it was.
In that instant, I felt a deep, quiet knowing — like God was nudging me, whispering, "This is him. This is the man I have for you." Just two weeks after that day, we decided to move in together. Yes, two weeks. It sounds wild, even reckless. People around us thought we had lost our minds. But what they didn’t see were the signs, the subtle but powerful confirmations that this was right. This wasn’t just emotion — it was alignment, it was purpose, and it was peace.
Looking back, I have no doubt that it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Our love story is a reminder that sometimes, the most unconventional, unexpected choices are the ones that lead to the greatest blessings — especially when you trust God’s guidance and dare to follow your heart.
