My Journey with Meal Prepping: Taking Back Our Health

My Journey with Meal Prepping: Taking Back Our Health

Hey y'all! BLovesLife here, and today I want to share something that's been making a big difference in our household lately.

My son Darius and I have been on this meal prepping journey for about three weeks now, and let me tell you - it's been life-changing! We've been cooking complete meals every 3-4 days, making sure we have healthy food ready to go. This isn't just for Darius - I've been cooking for my husband too, and we've ALL been seeing some real improvements in how we feel.

Since April 7th, we've only eaten out TWICE! That's right - I'm giving y'all the actual tea! Instead of restaurant food, we've been focusing on high protein, low carb meals with plenty of vegetables. We've been working with chicken breast, chicken thighs, ground beef, and ground turkey as our main proteins.

I'm especially proud of my husband - he's seen some significant improvements since we started eating this way. I won't put all his business out there, but the results are showing!

Darius has actually gained about 4-5 pounds, which was his goal. He's been taking creatine as a supplement while working out, which helps hold water in the muscles. Between the consistent workouts and our meal prepping, his body is really changing.

The key to all this has been CONSISTENCY. Y'all know I've never been consistent with anything in my life! (Don't say nothing to nobody about that!) But just doing something every single day for 3 weeks straight - you really start seeing improvements and changes. That's been our motivation to keep going.

When I cook, it takes about 4-5 hours to prepare all the food. I make rice, sheet pan vegetables, and different proteins. The proteins usually take the longest because I'm trying to keep things interesting! Nobody wants to eat boring food day after day - that's the quickest way to give up on meal prepping.

Instead of just basic seasoned chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, I make different styles - Asian-inspired beef, chicken with various spices from around the world, and different sauces like tzatziki or tahini. We're expanding our palates while staying healthy!

Today I'm planning to make a healthier version of orange chicken. My husband needs to keep his sugar intake low, so I'll have to get creative with that recipe. But that's part of the fun - figuring out how to make delicious, healthy versions of our favorite foods!

This journey ain't always easy, but seeing the results makes it all worthwhile. Have y'all tried meal prepping? What are your favorite healthy recipes? Let me know in the comments!
