My Weight Loss Secret

My Weight Loss Secret

I want to open up and share something personal with you all—my ongoing journey of maintaining health and managing my weight. This isn’t about chasing a number on the scale or following a quick fix. It’s about learning what works for my body, embracing balance, and making choices that I can live with for the long run.

For me, the goal is to lose about 5–6 pounds (2.2–2.7 kg). On paper, that doesn’t sound like much, but anyone who has ever tried knows it’s far from easy. I’ve learned that healthy weight loss isn’t supposed to be drastic or rushed. If you try to drop weight too quickly, most of what you lose is just water, not actual fat. That kind of loss doesn’t last. Instead, I’ve been focusing on a slower, more sustainable approach—aiming for a steady loss over the course of a month. That way, the progress is real, long-lasting, and healthier for my body.

One of the biggest discoveries I’ve made along this journey is how well my body responds to seafood. It feels almost like my body and seafood were made for each other. Whether it’s crab, lobster, or a variety of fish—especially grilled fish—these meals give me energy, are easy to digest, and don’t leave me feeling heavy or guilty afterward. When I eat seafood regularly, I feel lighter, satisfied, and in balance. Honestly, it feels like seafood and I are "married to each other" in the best way possible.

Another habit I’m thinking of bringing back into my lifestyle is juicing. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices can be a game-changer for energy and cravings. One of my favorite combinations might sound unusual at first, but trust me—it’s amazing: carrot and apple. This juice is naturally sweet, refreshing, and full of vitamins that not only energize me but also help reduce cravings for less healthy snacks. Juicing feels like giving my body pure, natural fuel that works from the inside out.

Now, let’s talk about desserts—because balance means enjoying life’s little pleasures too. I’ll admit, I have a serious weakness for certain treats. Warm avocado pudding and warm toffee pudding, especially when paired with cold ice cream, are my ultimate indulgences. There’s something magical about the contrast of warm, gooey cake melting into creamy, chilled ice cream. That combination creates a flavor experience so good, I don’t even want to share it with anyone—not even my son, Darius. Normally, he and I share desserts, but these particular treats? Those are my guilty pleasures, and I keep them all to myself.

Here’s the truth: I don’t follow a strict diet, and I don’t believe in depriving myself of foods I love. For me, the key is mindfulness. I enjoy delicious foods, but I eat them in moderation. I balance indulgence with healthy choices like seafood and fresh juices. And I make sure to stay active, because movement is just as important as what we put into our bodies.

At the end of the day, health isn’t about punishing yourself or chasing perfection. It’s about finding what works for you, honoring your body, and creating a lifestyle that you can maintain with joy. That’s the lesson I keep learning, one meal and one choice at a time.
