These shrimp boil foil packets take all of the great flavors from a shrimp boil and turn them into neat little packages that you can enjoy anytime!
Thank you to Princess Cruises for hosting our Alaskan cruise, serving us loads of amazing seafood and of course sponsoring and inspiring this delicious Shrimp Boil recipe!
My husband and I recently went on an Alaskan cruise with Princess Cruises which was definitely an experience of a lifetime! We had the most amazing weather and lots of sunny days making it perfect to explore all of the beauty Alaska has to offer! Before going, we selected our excursions at each stop in Alaska!
There were so many amazing things we got to see and experience including tons of wildlife, whales and seeing lots of stunning glaciers! One of my favorite excursions was Whale Watching & Seafood Feast, and trust me it was a huge feast!
We had an amazing crab and shrimp boil with heaps and heaps of Alaskan King Crab and Shrimp (view it here on Instagram)! The crab was hands down the best I’ve ever had, tender sweet and so good! While crab is not readily available in my neck of the woods, the remaining ingredients are so I had to share a recipe inspired by this amazing excursion!
These shrimp boil foil packages are made on the grill, but you can also make them in the oven or even on the stovetop if you don’t have a grill handy!
This shrimp boil includes all of the classic shrimp boil ingredients: corn on the cob, potatoes, smoked sausage, and of course shrimp. Rather than boiling all of the ingredients in a large pot, I find that grilling them in a package like this really helps to keep the flavors in better!
In this shrimp boil recipe, I love adding Old Bay seasoning along with melted butter (of course) to the packages. A little lemon, and you have the perfect seasoning combo!
How To Do A Shrimp Boil
Shrimp boils are classically done in a large pot of boiling water. You boil each addition until everything is ready. Strain your components in a large colander and toss them in spices and butter. Dump the boil onto the table and dig in!
In this recipe, we make shrimp boil in foil, eliminating the mess and keeping a lot more of the flavors. Each pack can be made in advance and then grilled when you’re ready. I love making these for parties! The bonus? NO DISHES!
If you want to do a shrimp boil in the oven, you want to cook your foil packs for 25-30 minutes in a 375 degrees F oven. When you shrimp boil foil packages up, be careful! A lot of steam will escape, and steam burns are never ever fun.
Both my husband and I loved every moment of our cruise from the excursions and views to dancing, cocktails and even bingo night on the ship itself! The cruise was filled with the most incredible meals and seafood so you’ll be seeing many more recipes inspired by our Alaskan cruise!
