Hey y'all! It’s your girl, BLovesLife, and today I have a hilarious and unforgettable story to share — one that had me completely SHOOK in the best way possible!
So here's what happened: Darius and I were filming one of his vlogs, just casually chatting, when I asked him, “Is this supposed to be a graduation video?” And that’s when he pulled out his diploma right there on camera! Y’all, let me tell you — I was FLOORED. Apparently, there were people out there thinking he was faking his graduation! Can you believe that? My baby actually graduated for real, and seeing that diploma with my own eyes made everything so real. I was honestly shocked, not because I didn’t believe in him, but because... well, keep listening!
Let me back it up and give y’all the full tea. So originally, Ben — that’s Darius’s dad — had the diploma first. Somehow along the way, we LOST IT! Yep, the official, real-deal diploma just disappeared. It turned into this big ordeal, and we had to go through the whole process of requesting a replacement from the University of Arizona. Well, life has a funny way of playing tricks on you, because after we paid for the new one, guess what? We FOUND the original! So now, Darius has not one but TWO diplomas. Double the pride, double the drama!
Now here’s where it gets even funnier. I asked Darius how much the replacement diploma cost, and he tried to tell me it was free! Oh no, baby, not today! I had to correct him real quick like a true mama would. I reminded him — loud and clear — that while the paper itself might seem "free," that diploma came with a six-figure price tag. (Not the literal paper, but y’all know exactly what I mean — tuition ain't cheap!)
Then we got into this playful little debate about what to actually do with the diplomas. I told him they needed to be framed — maybe even laminated — because after all that work (and all that money), we weren’t about to just throw them in a drawer somewhere! Darius ended up deciding to keep one diploma at our house and take the other one with him to his own place. I thought that was a perfect idea. Now no matter where we are, there’s always a reminder of everything he accomplished.
And y’all, the funniest part was when Darius tried to argue — with a straight face — that technically, one of the diplomas was “free” because we didn’t expect to get it. I had to laugh and set the record straight again: “No sir! That second diploma came with that big tuition bill we paid over the years!” But bless his heart, he kept on playfully insisting his logic was solid. Kids, I tell you!
In the end, Darius turned to the camera, grinned, and said, "Sorry, University of Arizona!" I couldn’t do anything but bust out laughing right along with him. If anybody from U of A is watching — y’all, we are sorry for the diploma mix-up... but we’re still gonna celebrate both of them!
I’m just so incredibly proud of my son. That Bachelor of Arts in Psychology represents more than just passing classes — it’s years of sacrifice, perseverance, late nights, and yes, a lot of our hard-earned dollars. So don’t play with it! This moment is BIG.
