Final Reflections: 8 Years as a YouTuber and the Last Meal in Vegas

Today is one of the most special days for me – my last livestream in Vegas before heading back home. Sitting here with my son Zaddy, enjoying a mukbang with roasted chicken and sweet corn, I can’t help but feel emotional looking back on my 8-year journey as a YouTuber.

An 8-Year Journey I Never Expected

This coming January will mark 8 full years with YouTube. Eight years – a number I never thought I could reach. Looking back, I feel truly blessed and fortunate. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

I’ve always believed every YouTuber, every content creator, has their own ups and downs. Some videos go viral, some flop, sometimes you rise again only to dip later. But the key is to keep “riding the train,” always learning how to market yourself across platforms.

Social Media – A Real Career or Not?

Many people still say YouTube and social media aren’t “real jobs.” That’s funny, considering there’s now an entire college degree in social media marketing! Yes, you heard that right – an official diploma to become a social media influencer.

In reality, to succeed in this field, you need a wide range of skills: business knowledge, understanding how to handle IRS taxes, knowing how to invest, creating products to market yourself, and most importantly, having a true entrepreneurial spirit.

Lessons From My Son

Looking at Zaddy sitting next to me, I feel proud of how quickly he learns. He’s helped me with a few recent livestreams and did an amazing job. But he also quickly realized this work isn’t easy at all.

Seven straight hours on your feet, no meal break, no 15-minute rest – nothing. Before you know it, the 7 hours are gone and you’re completely drained. That’s why I always tell anyone wanting to do TikTok affiliate: your work ethic has to “break through the ceiling.”

The Future of Social Media Marketing

I predict that by 2030, social media marketing will be a 1.5 trillion dollar industry. That means huge money flowing into this space. We – social media influencers – cost way less than TV ads but deliver just as much impact.

Even now, social media has already become the “new QVC.” People shop directly through livestreams, and this trend will spread across every platform.

Personal Thoughts

As I sit here eating sweet corn (which Google just confirmed is packed with fiber, vitamin C, folate, and B6), I think about finally going home after this long stay in Vegas. I miss home so much. No matter how luxurious a resort is, nothing compares to your own place.

I’m also thinking about making some small changes – maybe shaving, maybe freshening up my dreadlocks. Little changes are a way to refresh yourself after a long journey.

A Word of Thanks

Looking back at these 8 years, I wouldn’t change a single thing. Every mistake, every challenge has shaped me into a stronger businesswoman with a better work ethic. I’ve learned that to never become “irrelevant,” you have to be established, monetized, and keep going on every platform.

This isn’t a job for the weak. You need strength, passion, and self-motivation – because you are your own boss.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey with me. I’ll see you when I’m back home, full of fresh energy and new plans for the future!
