Today’s Comfort Food Twist: A Seafood-Less Boil That Hits the Spot
So today, baby, we’re switching it up — no seafood, just soul. I don’t know if it’s the weather or just my mood, but something in the air called for warmth, comfort, and those cozy gray sweatpants. You feel me? Let’s get into it.

We’re starting things off with a rich, flavor-packed seafood-less boil sauce. Now, don’t be fooled — just because it’s missing the seafood doesn’t mean it’s missing soul. This sauce is heavy on the ingredients and heavy on the love.
Here’s what I used:
-
One medium onion
-
8 to 10 garlic cloves (you know we don’t play when it comes to flavor)
-
Chicken bouillon
-
Tony’s No Salt seasoning
-
A generous hand of dried oregano, smoked paprika, lemon pepper, onion powder, garlic powder
-
A splash of soy sauce
-
A dash of brown sugar (yes, that melanin sweetness)
-
Two sticks of butter — and you better not skip that extra drizzle at the end
-
And of course, don’t forget the black pepper
-
About 1½ cups of water to bring it all together
Basically, we’re tossing in half the spice cabinet, and baby, it’s worth every sprinkle. Simmer that on medium heat until your onions hit the softness you like.
Now let’s talk meat. Instead of seafood, we’re using juicy rotisserie chicken. I picked mine up from Sam’s Club yesterday, popped it in the fridge, and now it’s showtime. Cut it into hearty chunks, throw it in the oven to warm through — and don’t you dare toss those drippings. Add that flavor gold straight into the sauce.
Then, let’s get the sides right:
-
Boil some small potatoes
-
Add smoked sausage
-
A few eggs
-
Sweet corn on the cob
All of that goes into an oven-sized turkey bag (yes, the trick that keeps everything juicy and packed with flavor).
Now who’s coming over? I hope this camera is doing justice because — whew — it smells like a hug in here.
I took a bite of that sausage? Mmm. Respect. A bite of corn? Sweet and buttery. One of those potatoes soaking in that sauce? Listen… this dish is IT.
Here’s the thing: if your family’s doing a seafood boil but you can’t (or don’t want to) eat seafood, this right here is your lane. All the comfort, all the community, none of the shellfish. Give it a try. You might just fall in love.
