Hi everyone! Today, I wanted to take a moment to share a beautiful memory I created with my husband on Sweetest Day—one that turned out to be unexpectedly meaningful in the best way.
Did you know Sweetest Day actually began in Cleveland, Ohio? My husband shared that fun fact with me, and I was surprised to learn that it's traditionally a day for celebrating men. That’s right—Sweetest Day was originally meant for women to pamper the special men in their lives. Knowing that made me even more excited to do something thoughtful for him this year.
I had so many ideas in mind to surprise him. At the top of my list was a hot air balloon ride. The crisp, cool weather that day would have made it absolutely perfect for floating up into the sky together, just the two of us. I also considered booking a wine tasting at a cozy vineyard or even a night out at a dinner theater—something romantic and unique to make the day feel truly special.
But as it turns out, Sweetest Day is more popular than I expected. Everything was completely booked. That was when I realized that for special experiences like those, planning months in advance is essential. Still, I wasn’t going to let that stop us from celebrating.
Thankfully, I had a backup plan, and it turned out to be even more heartwarming than I imagined. I had picked out a few thoughtful gifts that I knew he would appreciate—he's a bit particular, so I really took the time to choose things that were practical, meaningful, and tailored just for him. Then, we decided to spend the day at a Paint and Brushing pottery studio. It ended up being the sweetest experience—just the two of us, sitting side by side, painting ceramics and sharing laughs. It was peaceful, creative, and a great way for us to connect without distractions. Honestly, I would recommend it to any couple looking for something special to do together.

As for the gifts, I curated a little collection of things I knew he would love and actually use. I gave him a premium beard care set, complete with oil, wax, and a comb—because he takes pride in keeping his beard looking sharp. I also got him a beard bib to help with shaving (and keep the bathroom clean!). To help him unwind, I included a massaging pillow that can be used on his neck, feet, or hands—perfect for his long workdays. Since he’s a sandwich lover, I added a panini press to the mix, and he was so excited about it. And finally, the most sentimental piece—a keychain engraved with a message that came straight from my heart:
"To my man, the day I met you, I found my missing piece. You complete me and make me a better person. I was a little late to be your first, but I want all of my lasts to be with you. I love you."
That keychain might’ve been the smallest gift, but it held the most weight. Seeing his reaction when he read those words made everything worth it.
In the end, we didn’t need hot air balloons or extravagant plans. We had time together, laughter, love, and intention behind every detail. That’s what really made our Sweetest Day so unforgettable.
