Government Shutdown — Now Where Do We Fly? ✈️
Hey y’all, let me tell you about this. I’m sitting here with Darius and we’re talking about this government shutdown. Y’all, this is no joke!
The Airport Situation Right Now
Can you believe it — we just heard about what’s going on at the airports. They’re canceling a lot of flights! I heard that the people who work at the FAA — the air traffic controllers — half of them are losing their pay, getting evicted, can’t pay their bills. Darius is right: they have to find other work because this job isn’t paying them anymore.

How Serious This Is!
Listen, this is serious! This is about airplanes, aviation, people’s lives! They were already understaffed, and now even fewer people are showing up because they aren’t being paid. If they don’t get paid, how can they go to work?
Darius just told me a UPS plane crashed two days ago. Nine people died in that accident. I don’t know if it’s connected to staffing shortages, but that’s exactly why this job matters so much!
Long Lines at the Airport
And y’all, I heard in Houston the airport lines have been hours long! They’re canceling flights. I was lucky — I left early coming back from New York. I got to JFK early and the line was already long, but even the TSA officers were like, “This is too much!” When a TSA officer says that, you know it’s way worse than usual!

10% of Flights Canceled!
Darius told me they’re canceling 10% of flights at more than 40 major airports across the country right now. Ten percent! Can you imagine? If you booked a ticket and paid for it, 10% of those flights at 40 big airports could be canceled.
Darius says they’d rather cancel flights than let people board and risk safety. But y’all, this is awful!

Worrying About My December Trip
And guess what — we already booked our December trip. I have to go to Florida for a Royal Caribbean cruise. Dallas has to get back home. They better reopen! I told Darius, “They better let us know ahead of time. If they cancel my flight, I will—” Darius kept saying, “Girl, it’s not Delta’s fault.” But listen, I don’t care! If they cancel my flight, they have to give me another flight to Florida. I’ve planned this for three months!
Who’s Responsible?
Darius says I should blame Royal Caribbean and get a refund from them. But I say both Delta and Royal Caribbean are responsible! I paid — I need to get there — and if I don’t, someone has to make it right!

Darius laughed and told me I was calling “delusional.com.” But y’all, I’m serious! If they can’t get me there, they have to refund me or put me on another flight. Simple as that!
Tips for You
Y’all, if you’re planning to fly right now — especially around Thanksgiving — best to:
• Get to the airport super early! I mean at least 1–2 hours earlier than usual.
• Check your flight often because they could cancel at any time.
• Have a backup plan in case your flight gets canceled.
• Buy travel insurance if you can (I don’t usually, but maybe I should this time).

This Is Really Serious
The longer these people go without pay, the worse it gets. They’ll find other work and stop coming in. Then there will be even fewer people and even more canceled flights. The government needs to understand that when they shut down like this, it affects people’s lives. This isn’t just about money or politics — it’s about safety in the air!
So please be careful when you fly right now. I really hope the government reopens before December — otherwise I’ll have to… well, you know what I’ll do! 😤
