My Husband Cried Like a Baby Watching This Show and I Understand Why

Today, I want to share a special story about my husband – Nate – and how the series The Chosen deeply touched his heart.

It Started with a Simple Conversation
Everything began when I joined a prayer group at church. One sister passionately spoke about the series The Chosen. Honestly, I had never heard of the show before. I came home and told Nate about it — and from that moment, something truly special was added to our lives.

When My Husband Became “Addicted” to the Show
You know, Nate is not the type of person who watches shows back-to-back. He usually stops after an episode or two. But with The Chosen? Oh my goodness — he binge-watched it all night! I woke up and found him still there, eyes glued to the screen like he was under a spell. He even dreamed about what he had watched!

And what shocked me most? My husband — a strong, grounded man — actually cried watching the show. I was a bit confused at first, but when he explained, I completely understood.

Nate’s Touching Explanation
"You know," Nate said slowly, with emotion in his voice, "when I saw those people in the show — the ones who were hurt, rejected, treated like trash... and then I saw Jesus in the series embracing them, helping them, healing them, setting them free... To me, that’s what real life is supposed to look like."

He continued, "I wish we could see more of that happening today. But just seeing it on screen was enough to make everything I’ve read in the Bible come alive right in front of me."

The Power of The Chosen
I have to admit, this series is incredibly moving and beautifully made. They’ve added so many details we usually miss when reading Scripture. The filmmakers clearly did deep research on the history and culture of that time for every single episode.

When we read the Bible, we often focus only on the main stories and skip over the important context. The Chosen gives us a full picture of the political, cultural, and social environment of the era. You can truly feel it in the daily lives of the characters as they try to survive and make sense of their world.

Stories That Come Alive
The story of Mary Magdalene is just amazing. Of course, they added some elements that aren’t in the Bible to build her background, but it helps us understand how things might have happened more clearly.

And Levi — or Matthew — the tax collector? His story is incredibly emotional. When we read the Bible, we know people hated him, but the show really shows how deep that hatred went. He was a Jew collecting taxes from his own people, and it even made his parents feel ashamed. That context gave the story so much more depth.

A Lesson in Love
What I love most about The Chosen is how they show that Jesus never excluded anyone just because of what others thought of them. It reflects exactly what we read in Scripture and shows us how we should treat one another.

We’re called to love and serve each other. We are not supposed to think we’re better than anyone — no matter our social or financial status. If we could just get this in life — if we could treat people the way we want to be treated, with dignity and respect, no matter where they come from or who they say they are — that would be enough.

We are called to love — not judge. Period. That’s it.

A Heartfelt Suggestion
If you haven’t watched The Chosen yet, I strongly encourage you to check it out. This is a series that could truly change the way you see the Bible — and maybe even your own life. It moved my husband — a strong man — to tears. Not because he was sad, but because he was overwhelmed by the pure, unconditional love of God.

And that’s exactly why our video was titled: “This made Nate emotional.” Because sometimes, the most beautiful things in this life are meant to make us cry, meant to move us, and meant to be shared with the people we love.
