Honestly, this episode quickly became one of my absolute favorites, not just because of the delicious seafood boil we enjoyed, but because of the inspiring stories Kandie shared along the way.

Kandie couldn’t stop raving about the whole setup, especially admiring our matching fabulous nails that added an extra sparkle to the table.
I have to admit, the sauce was a little spicier than usual — so much so that Kandie kept reaching for extra water to cool down. But honestly, that little heat was part of the fun and made the mukbang even more exciting and authentic!

One of my favorite parts about inviting guests to mukbang with me is the chance to hear their personal journeys. Kandie opened up about her incredible rise from Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood to becoming a regular on MTV’s Wild'N Out. She’s been part of several seasons, and life changed dramatically for her when both shows aired simultaneously during the same week.
She laughed as she told me, “I went from working at a club to suddenly being recognized while shopping at Walmart.” That transition from everyday life to the spotlight is so inspiring — it reminds us that dreams really can come true with hard work and perseverance.
The Nerve-Wracking First Time on Camera
Kandie’s story about her first filming experience was both hilarious and relatable. She expected a small crew — maybe one or two cameramen — to show up at her home, but to her surprise, there were actually fifty people! “I was so scared, my heart felt like it was going to jump right out of my chest,” she shared with a laugh.
This story took me back to my early days on YouTube, when stepping in front of the camera was nerve-wracking but gradually became something I loved and thrived in. It’s amazing how those first moments shape our confidence and passion.
From Zero Followers to Music Stardom
Perhaps the most inspiring part of Kandie’s journey is how she built her following from absolutely zero. Her first viral video — a fun and catchy clip about Popeyes — was the turning point that catapulted her into the spotlight. Since then, she’s released three to four albums, with one even hitting the Top 40 on iTunes!
What impresses me the most is that Kandie isn’t just a rapper — she’s also a gifted songwriter and ghostwriter for other artists, showcasing a deep well of talent and creativity that many don’t realize.
A Hustling Businesswoman Wearing Many Hats
Kandie describes herself as a “24/7 work machine,” and that energy is palpable. Beyond her music career, she’s an entrepreneur, running a successful wig and hair business. And if that’s not enough, she’s preparing to launch her very own press-on nail line, showing how versatile and driven she truly is.
“I work the moment my feet hit the floor,” Kandie said with determination. That kind of hustle and dedication is something I deeply admire and try to embody every day.
Fun Food Moments and First-Timers
While diving into our seafood feast, we had some fun trying new things. I showed Kandie how to properly eat mussels — dipping them in the sauce, adding a squeeze of fresh lemon — and she instantly loved it. However, crawfish was a different story. Kandie confessed she’s not a fan of peeling them, even though it’s a beloved tradition in her family.
I could totally relate because everyone has those foods they just can’t get behind, no matter how popular they are.
How Taste Buds Evolve with Age
Another interesting insight Kandie shared was how her taste buds have changed over the years. As a child, she was extremely picky — only eating hot dogs, she joked. But now, she’s gradually expanding her palate, recently starting to enjoy foods like onions and tomatoes.
“Taste buds really do change as you grow older,” she said, and I wholeheartedly agree with her. It’s a beautiful reminder that growth isn’t just mental and emotional, but even physical in surprising ways.
Life Lessons from the Grind
Kandie’s reflections on her early struggles hit home deeply. She started out as a restaurant server, working grueling shifts for $100 to $200. Now, she’s built a thriving career in music and business.
“If I could work that hard just to survive for someone else, then I can definitely work that hard for myself to succeed,” she said. That mindset — turning hardship into fuel for ambition — is a powerful lesson for us all.
Family Support and Understanding
One of the most touching parts of our conversation was when Kandie talked about how her family initially didn’t understand her creative path. But over time, especially her parents became her biggest fans and supporters, cheering her on every step of the way.
I totally get that feeling, as I’ve been through the same experience — when your loved ones don’t quite get what you do online or in the entertainment world, but eventually come around to be your biggest cheerleaders.

Looking ahead, Kandie shared her desire to explore acting. Her time on Wild'N Out has boosted her stage confidence, and she’s eager to take on new challenges. With her talent, work ethic, and positive spirit, I truly believe there’s no limit to what she can achieve.
