The Unexpected Truth When I Followed My Son to Work – And the Surprising Ending

The Unexpected Truth When I Followed My Son to Work – And the Surprising Ending

Hello everyone! Today feels like one of those days where everything just flows beautifully, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you.

I started my morning with something I’ve been looking forward to – a simple bowl of ramen noodles, but not just any ramen. These were plant-based noodles I’d been excited to try for the longest time. Sometimes, the little things like this can set the tone for an entire day.

After that, my son Darius and I headed out for breakfast together. It wasn’t just about the food – it was about catching up, laughing, and just enjoying that mother-and-son bond. Over pancakes and coffee, we made plans for the day, which included watching a movie. We chose Last Paradise, a comedy we didn’t know much about, but sometimes the surprises turn out to be the best part.

Now here’s where the fun started – deciding on the showtime. Darius was all for going later, but I reminded him, “Look, we’re not exactly staying up as late as we used to!” I suggested the 7 PM show – early enough to have fun, but still leaving us time to rest before church the next morning. He laughed at me, but in the end, we agreed. And let me tell you, Last Paradise had us laughing way harder than we expected – it was honestly so much better than we thought it would be.

After the movie, we stopped by Trader Joe’s. Darius is such a fan of that store – he kept going on about all the different things they have. Watching him browse around made me smile, because those little everyday joys mean so much.

The next day brought something special too. I visited Darius at his workplace – he’s at a factory, packing sauces and seasonings. I couldn’t resist filming him while he worked, and of course, we ended up joking around. I suggested he crumple the packing paper into little balls to cushion the products. With his usual confidence, he looked at me and said, “Mom, I already know how to do that.” We laughed and kept teasing each other about it – moments that may seem small, but mean everything.

At the end of it all, I felt so grateful. Grateful for time with my son, for laughter, for movies, for food, and for the everyday blessings we sometimes take for granted. Sending love to you all – until next time!
