Hey hey, beautiful people! I’m back with another weekend adventure, and let me just say—this one hit different. We packed our bags, hit the road, and made a spontaneous trip down to Kentucky just to catch a live performance by Black Violin… and honey, it was EVERYTHING and then some! From the vibes to the inspiration to the whole experience, I couldn't wait to sit down and share it all with y’all.
Getting Ready for the Night – Outfit Check!
Y’all already know the drill—before we step out, the fit has got to be on point! I went with this cute little vest that had strings and beads, giving that fun, boho-chic vibe that I’m loving lately. The little details always make a difference, right?
And babyyyy, let’s talk about these boots. Straight from Fashion Nova, and yes ma’am, they are that girl. Comfy, stylish, and affordable? That’s a win-win-win! And let me put y’all on game: if you want cute boots for the low, start shopping during the off-seasons—like spring heading into summer. That’s when all the good sales hit and your wallet stays happy. You're welcome!
I threw on a hooded jacket that made me feel put together but still relaxed. And of course, my hubby had to make a quick cameo in the vlog—he’s always fussing over the lighting because, let’s be real, good lighting is everything! Gotta keep it cute for the camera.

Home for the Night: Our Marriott Stay
We decided to stay overnight at a Marriott. I’m a member (you know your girl loves those points and perks!), so I snagged us a free night—because yes, we save coins around here while still living our best lives!
We originally requested the first floor, but somehow landed on what they called the second floor (technically, it was still low enough for me not to stress). The room was simple, super clean, and perfect for our quick stay. Nothing over-the-top, but it served its purpose—and since we were only about 45 minutes from home, it gave us that just enough distance to feel like a true getaway.
The Magic of Black Violin
Okay, now let’s talk about the highlight of the weekend: the Black Violin concert. If you’ve never heard of them, get ready—because they are something special. These two insanely talented brothers mix classical violin with R&B and hip-hop, and baby... they took us to church, to the club, to the symphony hall—all in one night!
The energy they brought to the stage was unmatched, and the crowd was living for every second. But what truly warmed my heart was looking around and seeing so many young faces in the audience—especially young Black boys and girls, wide-eyed and inspired.
Black Violin shared how they both received full college scholarships because of their violin skills. They’ve been nominated for two Grammy Awards, performed for U.S. troops, and have shared the stage with major artists. But more than that, they carry a message that hits deep: defy expectations, break stereotypes, and show up in your truth.
They talked about how, as kids, they were often questioned for playing violin—like people expected them to be on the basketball court or the football field instead. But instead of letting those doubts break them down, they turned them into motivation. And their message to the young people listening? If someone tells you what you can't do, let that be the spark that pushes you to do it even harder.
Representation Matters—Deeply
As I looked around the room, I got a little emotional. Growing up, I never saw Black people playing the violin. It wasn’t something I thought was even possible for us. It felt like something reserved for the wealthy, white elite. And that’s exactly why this concert hit me so hard.
Seeing that stage filled with talent, with excellence, and knowing that there were kids in that audience seeing a reflection of themselves? Whew. It was powerful. It made me think about my niece and nephew—and how much I want them to experience moments like this. We have to give our kids the space to dream bigger, to believe that they belong in every room, on every stage.
Why You Need This Experience in Your Life
If Black Violin is coming anywhere near your city, don’t walk—run to get those tickets! Trust me, it’s more than just a concert. It’s a movement, it’s a message, and it’s a masterclass in turning your passion into purpose.
Their whole philosophy is so beautiful: find the thing you’re uniquely good at, present it to the world in a way only you can, and if you stay consistent, eventually the world will pay you to do what you love. That’s the kind of wisdom we all need.
Final Thoughts – Keep Dreaming, Keep Doing
This little weekend escape may have been short, but it left a mark on my heart. It reminded me why I love stepping outside of the routine, exploring something new, and soaking up moments that leave you changed.
We’ve got more trips planned (y’all know I love a good travel vlog), and I can’t wait to keep bringing y’all along. But this one? This one was special. The Black Violin experience wasn’t just entertainment—it was soul food. It was about challenging norms, embracing creativity, and knowing your presence in this world matters.
Thank you for riding with me on this journey. Stay bold, stay blessed, and always remember: what makes you different is often what makes you shine the brightest.
Until next time, peace out beautiful people! 💕
P.S. I’m already thinking about our next mukbang—shrimp with lemon pepper seasoning? You already KNOW it’s gonna be smacking!
