My Online Shopping Experience for Thanksgiving – Don’t Accept Substitutions!
Hey y’all! Today I want to share my experience with online shopping, especially when it comes to getting everything ready for Thanksgiving.
My Story
So, this week I actually let my son handle the Thanksgiving grocery run. Yep, me and Darius sat down yesterday and made a super detailed shopping list, and then I had my son go pick everything up for us.

The Problem with Online Orders
Now let me be real with y’all—I’m not the biggest fan of online grocery shopping. Why? Because sometimes they’ll send you things you didn’t even ask for!
The Important Tip: Always Choose “DO NOT SUBSTITUTE”
Listen to me, this is something you MUST remember when placing online orders—always check the box that says “Do Not Substitute.” Seriously y’all, don’t let them replace your items with something else just because what you wanted wasn’t available.
Do They Notify You?
Okay, to be fair... yes, they do notify you. Sorry y’all—at first I said they didn’t, but thinking back, they actually do send a text when something is out of stock. So I gotta correct myself on that one!
What’s the Real Issue?
The real problem is that it’s such a hassle when they don’t have everything on your list. That means:
-
You have to make another trip.
-
You have to go back to the store.
-
And in the end, you still end up doing it yourself!
Y’all see what I mean? The whole point of ordering online is so you don’t have to go to the store. But sometimes, things just don’t go your way. Sometimes, you just can’t get everything exactly how you want it.
My Advice
So here’s what I’ve learned from my experience:
✅ Always select “Do Not Substitute” when ordering online.
✅ Check your phone for update messages from the store.
✅ Have a backup plan in case something’s out of stock.
✅ And just accept that sometimes… you might still have to go in person.
That’s my honest experience with online ordering, y’all! I hope it helps you out during this busy shopping season.
