A Disappointing Wing Stop Experience
Let me start with food, because you know that’s close to my heart. Recently, I decided to give the new Wing Stop in my area a try. They’ve only been open for about two months, so I figured they’d be eager to impress new customers. I placed an order for delivery—20 wings, root beer, and a few sides. Sounds simple enough, right?
Well, what showed up at my door was nothing short of disappointing. First, instead of the 20 wings I paid for, I got only 17. On top of that, several of them were not fully cooked—some were underdone and even arrived still half-frozen in the middle. Now, if you know me, you know I love my wings, but nothing about biting into a cold, rubbery chicken wing feels right. As for my drink, I ordered a root beer and ended up with a diet soda. It felt careless, like they weren’t paying attention at all.
I tried reaching out to the restaurant, expecting at least an apology or acknowledgment. Instead, the staff brushed me off and acted like nothing was wrong. That kind of unprofessionalism left a bad taste in my mouth—literally and figuratively. When I later checked their reviews, I saw they already had a low rating of 2.7 out of 5, with more than 50 unhappy customers speaking out. Sadly, I wasn’t the only one left disappointed.
Generations, Culture, and Slang I Just Don’t Get
After shaking off that whole mess, I got into a conversation with some friends about culture and the way things shift across generations. Being part of Generation Z, I’ve noticed how different things are for the Alpha generation. They’ve got their own language, their own memes, and sometimes I feel like I need a dictionary just to keep up. For example—"skibidy toilet." What is that supposed to mean? I hear it tossed around online, and honestly, I just don’t get it. It makes me laugh, because I never thought I’d be the one saying, “These kids these days…” but here we are.
We also talked about fashion, and that’s something I’ll always be passionate about. Personally, I love the 70s. That era gave us fearless style—wide legs, bold prints, and an unapologetic sense of freedom. Fashion back then was more than clothing; it was a statement. Compared to today, where trends can feel recycled or watered down, the 70s had this unique energy that still inspires me.
Skincare, Health, and Breaking Old Beliefs
Something else that’s been on my mind lately is skincare. Growing up, I remember hearing myths in the Black community—one of the biggest being that darker skin doesn’t need sunscreen. My dad believed it too, until he experienced painful sunburn firsthand. Seeing him go through that changed the way I thought about skincare. It showed me that protecting our skin is not about color; it’s about health.
Now, sunscreen is part of my daily routine, just like brushing my teeth. I don’t skip it, and I encourage everyone, no matter what shade of skin you have, to make it a habit. Taking care of ourselves goes beyond looking good—it’s about protecting our bodies from harm.
Final Reflections
So today’s thoughts have been a mix—bad wings, generational slang that makes me feel older than I am, fashion nostalgia, and lessons about health that I wish more people talked about. But that’s life, right? It’s never just one thing; it’s a blend of frustrations, laughs, and lessons that shape who we are.
If you take anything from what I’ve shared, let it be this: don’t settle for less when you know you deserve better, embrace the unique beauty of every generation, and never ignore your health. Whether it’s choosing better food, questioning trends, or protecting your skin, small choices can make a big difference.
Thanks for listening, y’all. Stay real, stay mindful, and most importantly, take care of yourselves inside and out.
With love,
